Filmed and co-written in 1968 by George Romero, Night of the living dead tells the story of seven people trapped in a lonely farm house trying to survive a horde of flesh eating zombies but in the end they begin to turn on each other.
Set in one night the film begins off very normally when Johnny and Barbra arrive in a grave yard to put flowers on their father’s headstone but then it turns sour as a stranger kills Johnny and Barbra runs to an abandoned farmhouse where the whole film is set. During the course of the film other characters arrive including the films hero Ben who takes charge but then locks heads with another survivor in the shape of a cowardly weasel called Harry who moans all the way through the film, much to Ben’s despair as he is trying his best to make the farmhouse secure from the zombies
These two don’t get on from the word go and even when the survivors begin to die Ben and Harry will not work together. The end of the film is quite depressing as all the characters die. It was very oringnal that nearly all the survivors die by the consequences of their actions while a few get killed by the Zombies. I really enjoyed this film and it remains my favourite out of the George Romero zombie films.
