Created by Dame Agatha Christie Miss Marple the sharp eyed yet fluffy old lady of st Mary mead started her crime solving in murder at the vicarage when an unpopular colonel is shot dead in a vicars study. Miss Marple features in twelve novels and dozen short stories which takes her solving mysteries in all sorts of places from Dill mouth to even the Caribbean. Miss Marple has been adapted for the radio, TV and even the stage. On the TV miss Marple has been played by Margaret Rutherford, Joan Hickson and now in an ITV version Geraldine McEwen plays the sleuth while on radio Comedy actress June Whitfield portrayed Miss Marple. Miss marple remains my favourite Agatha Christie creation and I have read them about a hundred times.
