Directed by Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson Braindead is one of the most over the top and very funny comedy zombie film. It tells the story of Lionel Cosgrove, a 25 year old who has never been out with a girl in his life. This soon changes when he meets spanish lovely Paquita and the two soon fall in love. But there is one problem in the form of his overbearing mother Vera. Things get out of control when Vera is bitten by a rat monkey and dies the next day. Nurse Mctavish is on the scene and states that Lionel's mother is dead but Vera comes back as a zombie and soon causes the death of Nurse Mctavish, Father Mcgruder the local catholic preist and many more who get into her cluches. The best character in the entire film has to be Father Mcgruder who has the best lines in the film.

He has the best scene ever when vera attacks two bikers in the grave yard and turns them into zombies but before they get Lionel who was digging her up. Father Mcgruder dressed in his Pjams, Slippers and dressing gown states that the devil is walking among them and it is time for some Divine intervention. So he springs into action and on the words I kick arse for the lord he unleases he kung-fu skills on to  the living dead before he is bitten on the neck by a falling head and impaled on a angel.  this is the most over the sillest  horror movies I have ever seen, the sheer over the top gore and humour did not scare me at all. I really loved the characters including the film's timid hero Lionel who starts off as this shy mother's boy and at the end of it he becomes the true hero that he is.

My only fault with this movie is that there is not much Father mcgruder in it, It would have been nice to see him and Lionel take on the zombies together but apart from that I loved it.
